A beautiful bouquet was arranged for a wedding. Each flower was gathered in love. Each flower was chosen for a purpose in the arrangement. Each flower was placed so that it could lean upon the others, and together they stood while each rested upon all the group. Although each flower was beautiful alone, they were greater when they were together and each fulfilled its purpose in contribution to the whole. A child snatched one flower out of the bouquet. He was surprised when the entire structure began to twist, tumble, and fall.
God’s people are gathered in love and each one has a purpose in the group. When the church functions as one and each member is held up by all the others, excellence in ministry is practiced and Christian love is enjoyed.
A child may act in innocence, but the Tempter is skilled and wise. He knows quite well how to be extinguish faith and the faithful, and “we are not ignorant of his devices.”
He knows that the congregation exists to encourage each member and preach God’s Gospel. If God’s people can be isolated, he knows their faith can be more easily extinguished–Hebrews 10:24-26.
He knows how to use situations to divide God’s people–Acts 15:36-41.
He knows how great a fire the tongue can kindle. So he has given opportunity for the fire to grow on phones and Facebook.
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Jesus words recorded in John 14:34-35
