Great People

“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord” (Psalm 122:1). The church (the people) is one of the reasons we love the church. The greatest people on earth are God’s people. What a privilege it is to work with them, be with them, and worship with them as often as possible.

God knew the value of the church. Jesus purchased the church with his own blood (Acts 20:28). The church is His body and He is the head of it (Eph. 1:22-23). The church is His bride and He is the bridegroom (Rev. 19:7; 21:2, 9).

The first Christians valued the church and enjoyed being Christians on a daily basis. They “continued steadfastly in…the fellowship”….And all that believed were together” (Acts 2:41-44). We are comforted as we come together as the church. God encourages us to encourage. He gave us the church to “lift the drooping hands and strengthen [the] weak knees, and make straight paths for the feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather healed” (Heb. 12:12-13).

We should thank God for the church every day. Thank God for being blessed by the church. Thank God for being in the church. Thank God for participating in the church. Thank God for building an eternal home for the church.
