The more we get together, the holier we’ll be. God’s people rejoice at every opportunity to be together. The Psalmist rejoiced at brethren who would dwell together in unity. We anticipate the worship event so that we may enjoy and help one another (Hebrews 10:24-25). We also look forward to great reunion promised in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 when we shall meet together in the clouds in preparation of being always with the Lord.  
Note the importance of togetherness in the New Testament plan. The marriage of man and woman that God has joined together is to be inseparable by man (Matt. 19:6). The church is blessed with the opportunity to pray together (Acts 1:14; Romans 15:30). It is interesting to scan through the New Testament and see that God often worked mightily in the church when they were “assembled together” (Acts 1:14, 2:1, 2:44). We are to offer worship to God together (Romans 15:6). The church universal is “together” in worship, service, and prayer in Christ (1 Corinthians 1:2). How sad that we often allow our togetherness to be disrupted by absence or error (1 Corinthians 11:18).

Not only are we joined together with Christians, but we are joined together with Christians in Christ! God made us alive together with Christ (Ephesians 2:5; Colossians 2:13). We are to be joined together and work together for God’s glory (Ephesians 2:21). Together we are dwelling place of God (Ephesians 2:22).  

Since togetherness is such a great New Testament principle, we should strive to be together as often as possible. Be certain never to allow anything to get between you and God’s worship services. The reality of the situation is that whatever we allow to come between us and “going to church” has been elevated above God and church in our priorities. These things ought not so to be. 

We must organize our lives so that we have every possible opportunity to be with the Lord’s people in worship and outside of worship. God’s people will influence us for good and we can find ways to serve God’s people when we are together. Be a helper and allow yourself to be helped as needed.
