We have no words to describe the beauty and preciousness of Godly mothers. I thank God for my wife and for the excellent mother she is to our children. Far too many will never know the blessing of a Godly mother. Thankfully, many have enjoyed their mother’s presence and care. Many Christians rejoice in precious memories of their own wonderful mothers and look forward to being with them again.

Mothers are deserving of praise. Each Godly mother should often be reminded that “Many daughters have done worthily, but thou excellest them all” (Proverbs 31:29). The Hebrew construct for “worthy woman” (אֵֽשֶׁת־חַ֭יִ) in Proverbs 31:10-31 is quite interesting. The word translated “worthy” or “excellent” here in Proverbs 31:10 is also translated as “mighty”; “valiant”; and “armies.” Its dominant usage is to describe “valor” or an “army.” The word is used to convey a great force. What an appropriate word!

Let us all seek to “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12).
