One of our favorite hymns portrays Jesus saying, “I gave my life for thee, my precious blood I shed…What hast thou given for me?” What an incredible thought? What have we given to Christ?
We could never give enough. God has exhausted the riches of Heaven for our benefit. He sent his Son–John 3:16. He sent the Spirit–John 15:26. He has reserved a place in Heaven for us–John 14:1-4. God is able to more than we could ever imagine for us–Ephesians 3:20.
But what have we done for Jesus? What service will we render? What could we give in return to the one who has given us everything blessing? Should we not present ourselves to his service–Romans 12:1-2?
This presentation demands we perform God’s service and that we perform God’s service with excellence. We all have talents which can be utilized in the kingdom of God. Those talents should be polished and presented for His service daily.
Ultimately, this is a function of the heart. “He has told you, O man, what is good: and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Let us be devoted to him, his church, and his Gospel.
