God’s Faithfulness

But will I do it?

Every time we make a commitment, we have to ask ourselves if we are really going to do follow through. How many of our New Year’s Resolutions are still on track to be met? We often fall short on our commitments, but God never has and never will.

Jeremiah 31:37 records, “Thus says the LORD, If the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth searched out below, then I will also cast off all the offspring of Israel for all that they have done,” declares the LORD.” Isn’t that a wonderful reminder of our blessed assurance?

2 Peter 3:8-9 reminds us that “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” God’s promises are never postponed because he is trying to figure out a situation or trying to find a way to accomplish his purposes. Instead, God’s promises are fulfilled in his own time for our own good. He is patiently waiting so that we may grow and be better blessed. We do not have to worry about God’s actions. He will be faithful to his word. He will bless as he has described and he will judge as described.

While we struggle in our faithfulness, God does not. God continues to be faithful. God’s people can find great comfort, confidence, and great motivation by meditating on God’s faithfulness.
